April Varsity Athlete of the Month holding medals

Daniel Henninger - Varsity Track and Field

The Peck High School Athletic Department is proud to announce junior Daniel Henninger as April’s Athlete of the Month, honoring a season defined by technical growth and performance on the track. Henninger specializes in the 100m and 200m sprints.

An accomplishment that Henninger is most proud of is his performance at last year's Regional meet, where he secured an impressive 3rd place finish in the 200m. Henninger attributes much of his success to a relentless focus on the technical aspects of the race. Specifically he has prioritized perfecting his block starts, transforming the first few explosive seconds of the race into a competitive advantage.

Despite the recognition, Henninger remains modest, viewing the honor as a reflection of the team’s effort rather than just individual merit. Rather than taking sole credit, he points to the competitiveness and support of their teammates as the primary encouragement for his success. He feels pushed to reach new personal bests each day with help from his teammates.

Henninger's advice to the younger Pirate athletes is rooted in the reality of high-level athletics. He says, “not all progress is linear.” It is a reminder that setbacks are part of the journey, and staying the course eventually leads to the podium. With one more year of high school competition remaining, the Peck community looks forward to seeing Daniel continue to set pace for the Pirates.

Congratulations Daniel Henninger on being named April’s Athlete of the Month!

Elizabeth Schultz - Varsity Track and Field

The Peck High School Athletic Department is proud to announce junior Elizabeth Schultz as April’s Athlete of the Month. With five years of experience under her belt, Schultz has evolved into someone who balances competitive talent with the heart of a dedicated teammate. Schultz specializes in the 400m, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m.

Schultz kicked off the year with an impactful personal record (PR) in the 400m during the first meet, setting a high bar for her performances to follow. She has been working tirelessly to shave three seconds off her 400m time, a narrow margin that stands between her and new high school record.

For Schultz, being named Athlete of the Month isn’t just about the times of her races; it’s about being a supportive teammate. She is quick to credit the Peck track community for their individual milestones, noting that the simple act of teammates cheering from the infield provides the essential fuel needed during the final stretch of a difficult race.

Schultz offers advice to the younger Pirate athletes stating, “it can be hard, but keep working towards your goals and don’t give up.” Being persistent is what keeps her pushing through the fatigue of the two-mile and the sprint of the 400m. As she closes in on her goals, Schultz remains a shining example of what happens when talent is backed by five years of hard work and refusal to quit.

Congratulations Elizabeth Schultz on being named April’s Athlete of the Month!
